Been away, just returned from beautiful Cornwall! What can i say! We had a fab time, though rather hot for our 4 legged friends. Tried to find some places which were cooler and where you can have a paddle. I found one which was recommended,, a definite return visit is on the cards. Both the dogs had a whale of a time, in and out of the stream,, the pretty little waterfalls, so gorgeous. I know i need to get back to my creating, and this weather is not exactly prefect for making dog coats, and i do have an issue with space at the moment, as we are trying to re-decorate, well this is my excuse. But I have some available in my shops, if anyone is looking for a handmade dog coat or dog cowl for the winter days ahead. I know, seems a long way off, but, in the UK, we seem to have a very quick summer and a long winter. Probably because we are enjoying the hot weather and not the cold rainy days. If you would like to know where i went for this walk. its called Kennal Vale Mills and its beautiful,

Hiya! I'm back! Hahahaha!!! I hope you are all in good health and enjoying life! Please be patient while I update my website. I haven't blogged for awhile and so much seemed to have happened! Anyway! I have launched my Dog Coat range, I am really pleased with them. Made a few custom ones, but mostly been sold directly from my Etsy shop, (you can find the link on my landing page ,if you fancy a nosy!) As I can only do so many, I don't have a huge selection, then, one will sell (yay) and I try to keep up, but sometimes, life just gets in the way. As I just love to sew and of course create one off jewellery pieces, I get a bit frustrated at not being able to do as much as i would like. So, during the summer, (hot British days....we do get them. they can be nuts) .I'm going to be sweltering in the heat making my dog fleece coats, barmy, yep!! I was actually doing this last year, and found it a tad too hot! Anyway, not only are my fleeces doing well, but I also started making Dog Snoods, and these did well too, so again, I shall be upping my game in the summer to see if i can get some ready for the colder weather. I still love making my jewellery, I have gone very Hippie and Surfer style, easy to wear, anytime. Each piece is created by me, I design the look, I pack it, I send it. And I hope you love it. Thanks for reading! Chat soon! Lin xxxx Hello fab friends!
I am revamping my webite! I love doing my blog and its great to see you lovely people reading it, so will be still blogging away. Due to time I have decided to link my Folksy and Etsy Shops from here intead of offering my makes for sale on here. I may pop a few things on here which won't be for sale anywhere else. Custom orders can also go through my website. Of course if you need to contact me my details are on here. I am still making my dog coats, doing nicely too. I have started making some dog collar charms a well. These are a few addition so may just be available through this site. Here is one of them, a glass heart charm on a small clasp. This is big enough to clip onto a disc tag, but not on the lead ring, otherwise it will be too big to wear! Just a bit of bling fun for your fur baby, to dress up for a special occassion maybe? Watch this shop for more fun stuff! Catch you soon! xx I am really pleased I have had some custom orders for my dog coats.
What is the best way to advertise? Well, by wearing them of course! This is how I got the orders. It was an awful rainny morning, tipping it down, mine were wearing their cosy jackets and were nice and dry, but this ladies dogs were soaked, so she asked where I got them and I told her I made them. So to cut a long story short, I made her 2 custom ones. It is still very early days, but I am hoping these will do well in the coming Winter months. I have since made a new one for Jasi, in Ripstop and a gorgeous turquoie blue fleece, which he loves. Unfortunately, it no longer looks so clean! They run through the mud and the woods and get filty! Glad to say, it keeps them dry! I have just started some cute little polka dot ones, not quite finished as I am really busy with my walking business. But keep checking and they may appear really soon! I hope you've all had a good Summer, I have and am now looking forward to a new season, Autumn. This is one of my favourite seasons as it is the time that makes the garden a bit sleepy and that means a tidy up! But, of course not everything dies back and there is still the harvest of apples etc. We also need to sort out our wardrobe! Away goes the strappy tops and if you are brave enough, shorts!! And out comes our wellie boots and hats. Who tries to leave the heating off until at least October? I know some have already lite their log burners, because it has been so chilly. Its not too....bad in Bristol, a tad chilly on the mornings and evenings now, but during the day, been ok. If you have read my blog with the dog coat, well, I have finally finished one to sale, as I have been so busy and they take more than a few minutes to make. It is very simialr to the one Amber is wearing, except the material is waterproof cotton and not wax like hers. Hopefully it will be added to my shop this week and I shall add more as and when I make them. The size will be roughly Spaniel size but I will be doing other sizes too, as well as fleece ones.
I hope they are well liked, I am pleased with the design too. You won't find them on any other site, just here. Take care. Happy days. Lin. xxx I love vintage and I love old used stuff! Not sure why? Most people I know like new or modern things, houses etc. I would absolutely love to live in an old cottage with thick walls and a log burner. Though I wouldn't be surprised that quite a few of you who are so generously lending me your time to read this little piece may have both of these things in their life? Lucky you :) I try in my home décor section to bring a bit of cottage feel to my handmade lovelies, like my painted hearts, with a bit of aged look, but its painted effects. I have painted a few pieces of furniture in recent years, and I love doing it, its so therapeutic! Starts out, arghh and finishes of awww! I also buy old picture frames from charity shops and repaint them, you can save loads on doing this, and it fulfils my need for old. Have you ever tried up-cycling anything and been surprised at how good it now looks. If you check out a lot of refurnished furniture shops, you will be surprised at the cost for something similar, no doubt a lot of work has been put in and deserves the price, but you can also TIfY, (try it for yourself). all you need is a small box maybe to practice on, sandpaper, emulsion or chalk paint and some elbow grease. So get to that Charity shop! Have a fab day.. xx Well this year I was determined to make my little ginger fur ball a new coat! Amber is a roller! Need I say more? But, her wax jacket was proving to be a bit embarassing to say the least, LOL So, off I went to the local Fabric Shop, but there it stayed in its bag for quite a few weeks, until, this happened! It was just too embarassing for this jacket to be in public anymore in this condition! Never was a great fit either, always slipping. I took the bull by the horns, so to speak, designed my own and just went for it! I was sooo pleased with the result, Amber's very own bespoke jacket "with" a tiger stripe fleece lining! But, yep, she still rolls! but not so much, in fact, Amber is a terrible model, when I was trying to fit it, she just wouldn't keep still, but my other furbabe just loved trying it on, just he's far too skinny for it to be a good fit, especially as it was for a "girl", it covers her little tum and keeps her dry. Eventually, Amber soon realised, this jacket was for HER and not him, and was very happy to let me fit it, it was hilarious! We laughed, because when she was wearing it for the first week or so, Amber would go round showing it off! So, I think she likes it :) I am sure you agree, that Ambers new jacket looks a bit better. LOL
Maybe I should start my own line in doggy jackets??? I really enjoyed making it, because it was easy for me to do, as it was my own design and there were no rules. Don't you just love "No Rules" Chat soon, am loving this blog!!! Comments are great to receive and it's lovely to meet new friends.xx Welcome! For those of you who visit my little shop, you will notice a name change, I am no longer ChillOutchic Handmade but Amberlilly's Handmade. I have thought for quite a while about choosing a new name and decided to just go for it. My new name is taken from my gorgeous Spaniel Cross who is the real Amberlilly. Amber when shes good and Amberlilly when she not so good! LOL. Of course she is named after the stone or rather tree resin. But I like to call it a stone. I hope you like my choice in name? By the way, my other dog is called Jasper, they are my 2 little gemstones. :) Catcha soon.xx Well, its here 2015, how did you welcome it in?
Me, I spent it with my OH, son, 2 fur babes and 2 very close friends. We had dinner and consumed well over the legal limit to drive, LOL. But what a lovely evening it was, my friend said to me, you don't need to party to have a good time, and shes right, just a cosy evening, fire blazing, wine flowing and a good laugh. Glad to say, my friends are walking distance and we tend to take it in turns to do New Years. I personally, am not fond of New Years, it makes me a bit sad, people you've lost, dreams that never happened, another year older....etc. So, keeping the convos light and happy, just chillin, looking to the Spring, thinking about holidays, the sun, all these things get me through the New Year. Today, the decs came down, I'm sure there were more than last year?? The house looks bare, I need to do something to it..... I am a lover of lights.... just love them! So, I have kept some tree lights back and will drape them....somewhere! Just don't keep still for too long, LOL So, back to work tomorrow, back to normal for all in the house, though I have had some jobs this Christmas as this isn't my only outlet. I hope you all had a fab New Year and I wish you a happy one. I don't do resolutions, because I always break them, LOL. But, I wish you well in everything you do and keep safe and well.xxx Shop till you drop! Is this you? Not sure if you are coming or going?
Well, sit back, put the kettle on, have a cuppa, use the time more wisely. Buy local or buy on-line, this is what I do. Someone on the TV said, maybe we spend far too much money and maybe think about limiting the cost to a token gift with more thought, not even necessarily new either, but the thought going into the gift. Have you ever thought the same? Keeping your budget down, less stress, more fun? Just something to think about. I think its a fab idea. |
